Kanwar Dilshad (Former Secretary ECP): National Voters Day is observed to highlight the importance of vote and to encourage people to participate in the polling process. 7th December each year reminds us of the first general elections held across Pakistan on this day in 1970. So far, 12 million voters have been registered in the country. Every individual must check his/her name in the voters’ list and if his/her name is not registered then he/she simply write an application to the Election Commission of Pakistan to get the name registered. Election Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with NADRA provides SMS service for the public to facilitate the eligible voters to check their registration status.
