Abdullah Gul (Defence Analyst):Growing partnership between Pakistan and Singapore is very important for the whole region. In this regard visit of Foreign Minister of Singapore Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan to Pakistan is also very crucial for further deepening the bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors. Both the countries can learn and benefit from each other’s expertise in several specific fields. Singapore under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew has covered strides of progress and development in several key sectors. Visit of Singaporean Foreign Minister to Pakistan also marks the growing importance of Pakistan at international level. Actually, after glorious victory over India in last year’s war, South East Asian Nations, like rest of the world, are also keen to have strong ties with Pakistan. Pakistan’s influence over South East Asian Nations is growing with the passage of each day and defence pact with Indonesia is an example. Previously, India had dominating influence over South East Asian Nations. In contrary, Pakistan is offering cooperation on parity and mutual respect basis. Therefore, Pakistan will have very strong role in South East Asia in future. In the changing new world order, Pakistan and South East Asian Nations will have more close and strong partnership and cooperation.

Amb. Imran Ali Chaudhry (Former Diplomat):Visit of Foreign Minister of Singapore Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan to Pakistan is very important because both the countries have a lot of commonalities. So both the countries can benefit from these commonalities for mutual benefits. Therefore, both the countries are exploring more and more avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors.
