International concerns persist over the continued presence and activities of militant groups in Afghanistan.

According to the South Asia Journal, various militant groups, including Fitna al-Khawarij, Daesh-Khorasan and Al-Qaeda, continue to operate in Afghanistan.

The journal reported that groups with different ideologies are benefiting from networks providing weapons, training and facilitation inside Afghanistan.

It said Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over cross-border attacks by Fitna al-Khawarij from Afghan territory.

The South Asia Journal warned that the continued presence of militant safe havens in Afghanistan could discourage investment and undermine regional integration.
