In Afghanistan, illegal restrictions imposed by the Taliban regime are forcing Afghan women towards suicide.

According to the international magazine, The Guardian, the Taliban regime has imposed unilateral and stringent policies on Afghan women, making gender discrimination a part of state policy and depriving women of basic rights and freedoms.

The Guardian further reported that eighty percent of suicide cases and attempts in Afghanistan involve women.

Afghan investigative outlet Zan Times has also highlighted the alarming situation of violence against women, saying perpetrators of killings of women often escape punishment.

Reports by international media outlets indicate that Afghanistan has become increasingly unsafe and intolerable for women under the Taliban regime.
