Anwar Shahzad (Spox PDMA KPK): Pakistan is one of the most climate change hit countries in the world; therefore global efforts to counter this challenge are required. Since August 14, intermittent rains have wreaked havoc in different areas of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. Buner is the worst affected district where rescue operations and relief activities are still going on. All the concerned departments and institutions are on the ground and carrying out operations at full speed. Major losses and damage in Buner district is due to cloudburst because situation arising out of cloudburst gives zero time to response to the concerned departments. Heavy machinery has been deployed in Buner district to search for missing people. All concerned departments and institutions are providing financial relief and aid to flood affected families. Cloudburst also occurred last night in Swabi area; however, till now no information about loss and damage has been received. The provincial government is utilizing all available resources in relief and rescue operations because provincial government possesses enough resources to cover up the damages. If required, the provincial government will accept aid offers from the federal government or international donor agencies. Federal government and federal institutions have made generous offers of full support to provincial government to conduct aid and relief operations for the flood affected families.
