Kashmiri delegates at the UN Human Rights Council have urged the High Commissioner for Human Rights to intensify monitoring of the grave human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In their statements at the 63rd session of the Council in Geneva, the Kashmiri delegates called for prompt international action and demanded impartial scrutiny of human rights violations in the territory.

They also urged the Council to impress upon India to uphold due process and ensure accountability.

They expressed concern over the intimidation of human rights defenders and political activists, arbitrary detentions and restrictions on freedom of expression.

The delegates also condemned Indian political and administrative measures affecting Kashmir's identity and demographic character.
