July 07, 2026

Dr. Hassan Daud But (IR Expert):It is a great development towards positive direction that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have reaffirmed their aspiration to establish a strategic partnership. This achievement is sole fruit of President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Kyrgyzstan where he held fruitful talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have also agreed to have joint forum to counter terrorism because war against terrorism is not related to any single country as it is global war. Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have long traditional ties; both have fraternal ties in historical, cultural bonds. Our connectivity with central Asia is key for regional economic uplift. Both countries are trying to have regional connectivity both land and air. However, situation in Afghanistan hinders this connectivity and proves to be hurdle in regional prosperity. Thus, terrorism from Afghanistan proves to be biggest hurdle in regional economic progress. Geographically, Pakistan offers immense potential for regional connectivity to boost inter region trade and economic activities. Pakistani ports are equipped with modern technologies to handle millions of tonnes of trade goods. President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Kyrgyzstan is not confined to bilateral ties as it is all about boosting cooperation in diverse sectors between both the countries
