Dr. Abdullah Gull (Defence Analyst):Visit of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Pakistan is of great significant in the background of prevailing security situation in Middle East. This visit is going to be beneficial for both the countries because brotherhood between both the countries is cherished by the same heights. After Iraq war, FWO and other Pakistani organizations went to Kuwait and helped Kuwait in restoration of damaged oil wells and other infrastructure. So, Kuwait also holds Pakistan in high esteem because Pakistan is the country which helps Kuwait in the time of need. Kuwait and Pakistan are engaged in very cordial relations and Foreign Minister Ahmad Al-Sabah is also very important figure of Kuwaiti Royal family. Pakistan is giving lot of importance to his visit and Pakistan is going to benefit from his visit. At the time of signature of defence pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, we talked about three non-Arab and five Arab countries which were willing to have a similarly defence pact with Pakistan. Now Kuwait is interested in developing oil storage facilities in Pakistan and wants to invest in Pakistan. One million barrel oil is going to be stored in Pakistan by Saudi Arabia and seven million barrel oil by Kuwait. It is very significant because Pakistan will have right to use stored oil in case of some war like situation.

Waheed Ahmad (Former Diplomat):Ties between Pakistan and Kuwait have been historically cordial since ever and a huge Pakistani diaspora is contributing significantly to Kuwaiti economic and social development. Pakistan highly values these ties with Kuwait.  I think that Kuwait is facing difficult situation due to ongoing tensions between Iran and US and Iranian drones and missile strikes on US bases in Kuwait, because Kuwait does not have armed forces. So Kuwait wants to handle issues diplomatically; In this regard, Kuwait is looking towards Pakistan. So Pakistan has an opportunity to exert its influence over Iran to stop Iranian attacks on Kuwait. It will boost Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with Kuwait. But, Pakistan is required to take Iran and Gulf countries into confidence on this issue.
