Dr. Usman Chohan (Economic Expert):While addressing Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in Dushanbe, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has conveyed a very strong message to the world regarding concept of peace and prosperity. He means to say that peace is vital for regional prosperity. However, he highlighted that nefarious designs of neighbours are undermining the objective and charter of SCO; harmony and assurance of collective regional security. I think that SCO is the best place to articulate this concept and DPM Ishaq Dar has very aptly pinpointed the nefarious designs of neighbours which are hurting the regional peace and prosperity. SCO has greatly touched upon the area of AI and technological cooperation between the member states; however, it is visible in some sort of bilateral manner among the member countries. For example, Pakistan and China’s cooperation in technology is diversely expanded and covers a large number of areas and sectors of CPEC and others. Similarly, China and Russia also cooperate immensely in the technological sector. However, there are some members of SCO which are less connected with other members either under international agenda or due to some other reasons. But Pakistan is very well connected to other countries on technological basis. Under the ambit of CPEC, we can expect enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and other SCO countries as we are right now the President of SCO and may expand cooperation at the regional and international level.
