The Indian government has intensified efforts to tighten control over social media amid growing criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his administration.

According to the Indian publication The Wire, Delhi Police have directed social media platforms to remove content critical of Modi.

The publication reported that many Indian youths have been expressing their dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister through online posts and memes.

Police sources have confirmed that the process of identifying such content across various social media platforms is already underway.

Observers say the removal of critical social media posts not only constitutes an attack on freedom of expression but also exposes the reality of India's so-called democracy.
