The 29th death anniversary of renowned film director and writer Zia Sarhadi was observed today (Tuesday).

He was the father of veteran Pakistani TV actor Khayyam Sarhadi.

Zia Sarhadi was born in 1914 in Peshawar and his real name was Fazl-e-Qadir Sethi.

As a director, his best films include Humlog (1951), Footpath (1953) and Rahguzar (1960).

He died on this day in 1997 in Karachi.
