Sikh Sangat in Pakistan reached the Zero Line at the Kartarpur Corridor and performed special religious rites, including Ardas, Shabad Kirtan and Aarti.

It participated in the religious ceremonies and offered prayers at the Zero Line.

However, security forces on the Indian side prevented the Sikh Sangat, led by the acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht, from proceeding towards the Zero Line.

Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said Pakistan had presented the Kartarpur Corridor as a gift to the Sikh community in 2019.

He said Pakistan has always advocated the rights and religious freedom of minorities.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees complete religious freedom to every citizen.

Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib in India, Sardar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said the Sikh community wants the Kartarpur Corridor to be opened for pilgrims wishing to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.

He said reopening the corridor would help create a more pleasant and conducive environment between the two countries.

The Kartarpur Corridor is a symbol of religious tolerance, interfaith harmony and Pakistan's commitment to the Sikh community.
