Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has telephoned Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and urged him to postpone the party's planned sit-in in Islamabad.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister said the government is providing relief on petroleum products to the economically vulnerable and middle-income segments of society in these difficult circumstances.

He said the government would continue to ensure relief to the people to the maximum extent possible.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman welcomed the Prime Minister's proposal and said that the Jamaat-e-Islami is considering postponing the sit-in.

The two leaders also agreed to meet after the Prime Minister's return from his visit and continue consultations on the matter.
