International Labour Organization (ILO) has released a new report on the deteriorating economic situation in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime.
According to the ILO report, the Afghan economy contracted sharply after the Taliban seized power, while the labour market is faced with serious challenges.
It highlighted that the share of women in Afghanistan’s labour force declined from 16.5 percent to just five percent under the Taliban regime.
According to the ILO, Afghanistan has the second-lowest rate of women’s participation in the labour force in the world.
