Modi government's Hindutva-driven extremist ideology has undermined India's defence, economy and foreign policy.

According to Indian Open Magazine, Washington's strategy towards India has changed and bilateral relations are no longer what they once were. Expectations of improved ties following Donald Trump's return have not materialized. Instead tensions have become more pronounced on several issues.

It reported that Pakistan's importance in US policy is increasing, while Islamabad also played a key role in facilitating US contacts with Tehran.
