President Asif Ali Zardari has paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy on its 19th anniversary.

In a statement, he said the sacrifices of the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy remain a shining chapter in Pakistan's national history.

He highlighted that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto remained steadfast despite threats to her life. He said Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's courage and sacrifice serve as a beacon of light for champions of democracy, peace, and justice.

The President emphasized that upholding the supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of the people, and democratic values is the true calling of the martyrs' sacrifices.

He said the sacrifices of martyrs further strengthen the national resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country.

Asif Ali Zardari prayed for the elevation of the martyrs' ranks and for patience and fortitude for their families.

He expressed confidence that the sacrifices of the Karsaz martyrs will continue to inspire coming generations in building a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous Pakistan.
