The Senate resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Thursday with Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in the chair.

The newly elected member of the Upper House Syed Waqar Mehdi took oath as Senator.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani administered the oath.

Three reports of the Standing Committees were presented before the House.

These include; “The off the Grid (Captive Power Plants) Levy Bill, 2025”, “The Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2025” and “The Nexus International University of Health Emerging Sciences and Technologies, Islamabad Bill, 2025”.

The House also adopted a motion regarding recommendations on the money bill to impose an off the grid levy on natural gas based captive power plants “The off the Grid (Captive Power Plants) Levy Bill, 2025”.

Besides, annual reports of the National Commission for Human Rights for the years 2023 and 2024 and the Federal Public Service Commission annual report for the year 2023 were laid before the House.

The Senate passed “The Nexus International University of Health Emerging Sciences and Technologies, Islamabad Bill, 2025.”

The Bill, moved by Senator Nasir Mehmood, is aimed at establishment of the Nexus International University of Health Emerging Sciences and Technologies, Islamabad.
