Ali Sarwar Naqvi (Former Ambassador): Turkiye is facing a national tragedy and one of most devastating earthquakes in history with magnitude of 7.8. Pakistan being a close friend of Turkiye is standing shoulder to shoulder to People of Turkiye in this difficult time. In this regard, Pakistan has sent a good number of relief goods and rescue teams for search and rescue operation in Turkiye. The people of Pakistan are very sympathetic about what happened in Turkiye as a result of this natural calamity. These efforts can be further augmented and for this there should be a nationwide effort to provide assistance to Turkiye in their relief and then rehabilitation process.
Dr Riffat Hussain (IR Expert): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is very much concerned about recent devastating earthquake in Turkiye. The government of Pakistan has dispatched some relief goods and rescue teams for assistance of Turkish brethren. It is a good will gesture from Pakistan and the government and people of Turkiye will definitely appreciate this step. According to a recent estimate by United Nations, the causalities in Turkiye may exceed 40 thousands after the clearance of debris. In this hour of despair, Turkiye needed a lot of help in form of relief goods and rescue teams including doctors and paramedics. The international community including the United Nations and the world organizations must come forward to support Turkiye and Syria in this testing time.
