Analysts hold Indian heinous designs responsible for tension in South Asia
May 07, 2025

Lt. Gen. (R) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defence Analyst):World has rejected Indian stance on Pahalgam drama. India unilaterally has suspended Indus Water Treaty therefore all Indian dams on rivers flowing towards Pakistan are now illegal. There are some dams which are clear violation of Indus Water Treaty and Pakistan has raised objections over them. Now the terminology of Eastern and Western Rivers has also become irrelevant because this bifurcation of western and eastern rivers was only due to Indus Water Treaty. Now India has become a rouge state and wants to become regional dominant but it is not possible. Therefore it is best for India to negotiate with Pakistan to resolve outstanding issues. Pakistan has responded to Indian threats in a befitting manner and Pakistan has sent a clear-cut message to India and the world.

Air Marshal (R) Masood Akhtar (Defence Analyst): Modi wants to establish hegemony over the whole region while Pakistan is only country in the region challenging Indian hegemony. Pakistan is a nuclear power and strong military force. In case India violates Pakistan’s territorial or aerial boundaries, we may go nuclear. We have parity with India in almost every sector of defence. Modi is not ready to hold talk. World is not paying heed any to Modi’s stance. If India stops our water, we can hit Baghlihar or any other dam. Air Marshal Sindhu has clear vision on national security. We must catch on what Modi is doing. Right now our air force is far better than India in terms of capability. Our radars are fully capable of tracing out airplanes across border. J10-C or bloc III of JF-17 Thunder are more capable. China may step forward if war prolongs over 72 hours in Kashmir

Air Vice Marshal (R) Ijaz Malik (Defence Analyst): Hybrid war is that war is also fought on invisible fronts. Like creating rifts among the society, pollute the minds, shattering the foundation of any ideology. Therefore, we must prepare our youth to avoid comments on any controversial issue or go for counter check into any controversial issue. World Bank is guarantor in Indus Water Treaty so India can’t suspend it. Therefore, we have a strong case on this issue and our concerned fronts are making preparations to take it issue up at international forums. Moreover, India seeks same concessions from China on Barahamaputra and other rivers flowing from China towards India. Almost all major countries have voiced in favour of Pakistan. The world has rejected Indian narrative therefore India needs to review its designs. We are ready to confront India even then we desire peace with India. We are ready to extend full cooperation in any credible, transparent investigations into Pahalgam drama. Now ball is in India’s court and it is up to India to decide next course of action.

Brig (R) Tipu Sultan (Defence Analyst): I don’t see any sort of de-escalation because Modi has been following an agenda of hatred for over two decades. Pakistan has been making efforts by these efforts are destined to failure because Modi has become a fanatic. However, we are quite ready to face off any kind of aggression because India has build-up forces on borders. However, the world has realized that India can’t face professionalism of Pakistani forces. I wish previous governments should have stood firm against India like the incumbent government. I think that major political parties must highlight national unity against India. Pakistan has been playing key role at UN since ever. Water issue is a complex and serious one so Pakistan has declared water blockage tantamount to declaration of war. Pakistan will have to take strict action in case of water blockage.  Pakistan must take up this issue at ICJ, UN and other concerned platform before taking any action. India has been cunning since ever with Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. Therefore, we will have to compel India.

Brig. (R) Babar Alaudin (Defence Analyst):India blamed Pakistan within few minutes without carrying out any kind of probe into Pahalgam incident. Actually it was a security failure of Indian security forces.  Deputy Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has timely directed the Pakistan’s permanent representative and other diplomats stationed in New York to convene UNSC meeting on the prevailing tension between Pakistan and India. Pakistan is also non-permanent member of UNSC. Actually India has been totally provocative and leveling false allegations against Pakistan. So it is very timely and important to convene UNSC meeting and Pakistan will be in a position to present Pakistan stance before the comity of nations.
