RJ and Broadcasting Internship Programme formally inaugurated in Lahore

The "RJ and Broadcasting Internship Programme" formally launched under the auspices of FM-101 Radio Pakistan at Broadcasting House in Lahore today.

Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Qasim Bukhari reported that RJ and Broadcasting Internship Programme is a first-of-its-kind and historic initiative. The six-week programme has attracted an unprecedented number of participants. A total of sixty interns are taking part in the programme, making it one of the largest broadcasting training initiatives of its kind in the country.

As part of the initiative, interested candidates underwent a screening process through interviews conducted at Broadcasting House Lahore.

Following the initial screening, an orientation session was organized today at Radio Pakistan Lahore for the shortlisted candidates.

The orientation session featured renowned broadcasters, presenters, and media professionals including Khalid Abbas Dar and Ali Tahir who shared their valuable experiences and insights into the field of broadcasting. The speakers highlighted the importance of creativity, dedication, professionalism and effective communication skills in building a successful career in the media industry.

Speaking on the occasion, the Focal Person of the RJ and Broadcasting Internship Programme, Zubair Bashir said that the initiative has been designed to equip young individuals with practical knowledge and modern broadcasting skills. He said the training programme would open new avenues of employment and provide aspiring broadcasters with an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities.

Station Director Radio Pakistan Lahore Dr Ahmer Sohail Basraa said that Radio Pakistan is a prestigious institution with a rich legacy and has always remained at the forefront of promoting emerging talent. He emphasized that nurturing young professionals and providing them with meaningful learning opportunities has always been an integral part of the Radio Pakistan's mission.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Secretary to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Asad Abrar, said that radio is not merely a medium of communication but also a platform that gives voices an identity and enables young people to showcase their talent and creativity. He said that the programme aims to provide practical training in modern broadcasting techniques while fostering confidence, innovation, and professional excellence among participants.

On the occasion, the participants appreciated the initiative and described it as a valuable opportunity to learn, refine their skills and gain practical exposure to the broadcasting industry.
