Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has said the pre-22nd April situation has almost been restored between militaries of Pakistan and India.

In an exclusive interview with Reuters, he said this indicates a de-escalation of forces deployed during recent tensions.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza emphasized that the risk of escalation had increased due to the recent fighting not being confined to the disputed territory of Kashmir.

He said there have been no backchannel or informal talks to ease tensions between the two nations.

He unequivocally said issues can only be resolved by dialogue and consultations, on the table instead of waging wars.
