The State of Palestine has highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s poignant remarks regarding the martyrdom of innocent children in Gaza on its social media platform, 'State of Palestine'.

The State of Palestine noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif brought the atrocities inflicted upon Palestinian women, children and the elderly people to the attention of the global conscience.

It said the tragic martyrdom of Palestinian children, including Hind Rajab and Wafa Aqila, was a significant part of the Prime Minister’s address.

The State of Palestine further noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised the question before the international community about the right to life, a better future and the fulfillment of dreams for the children of Gaza.

It said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made special mention of Palestine in his address, saying generation after generation, the Palestinian people, especially women, children and the elderly, have faced occupation, displacement, suffering and death.

The Prime Minister recalled that last year he had mentioned the heart-wrenching story of an innocent Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, who was ruthlessly shot by Israeli soldiers.

He said that this year, another tragedy weighing heavily on people around the world was the cries of the mother of eight-year-old Wafa Aqila, who lost her life in this senseless aggression.

The State of Palestine said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed shock that, unfortunately, the day that should have been Wafa Aqila’s first day of school became the last day of her life.

He also questioned whether a child born in Gaza does not have the same right to life, a future and the ability to dream as a child born in any other region of the world.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the tragedies of Hind Rajab, Wafa Aqila and countless others will continue to echo through history as an indictment of our collective silence, failure and inaction.
