
Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob has expressed confidence that general election will be held in a peaceful manner tomorrow (Wednesday).
Talking to media in Islamabad today, he said polling results will be shared after seven in the evening. The ECP Secretary asked all the Returning Officers to use Result Management System (RMS) to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of results.
He said out of 120 political parties registered with the ECP, ninety five are taking part in the elections. He further said that 88 parties have fulfilled requirement of allocating five percent quota for women candidates while seven parties did not fulfill it.
Secretary Election Commission said the constituencies where elections have been postponed include NA-60, NA-103, PK-78, PK95, PP-87, PP-103, PS-6, PS-87 and PB-35.
He said the general public can check their votes by sending SMS to 8300 till tonight. He said fifteen million people have so far utilized this facility to check their election particulars.
Babar Yaqub said that Election Commission of Pakistan has decided that if polling process disrupts at any polling station due to excessive rain, the venue of polling station can be changed in consultation with contesting candidates.
Secretary Election Commission appealed the public to exercise their right to vote with enthusiasm for the continuity and strengthening of democracy.
