Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment Division Ahad Cheema has said that achieving financial viability of the National Highway Authority is a key priority.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting in Islamabad.

The Minister emphasized the need for a practical business plan for the National Highway Authority with clear timelines and an assessment of its capacity.

Ahad Cheema stressed that commercially, economically and socially viable projects should be prioritized to strengthen the NHA’s financial sustainability and help it avoid an unsustainable debt-servicing burden.

He said the projects that are not commercially viable should undergo a thorough study and be reviewed before any decision is made.
