President vows equal opportunities for women in public service

President Asif Ali Zardari has extended appreciation to all women diplomats of Pakistan, saying, their contribution remains part of an ongoing national effort to engage the world with seriousness, discipline and purpose.    

In his message on the occasion of International Day of Women in Diplomacy today (Wednesday), he paid tribute to the women who served with distinction in advancing dialogue, understanding and cooperation among nations.

Highlighting the long record of women in contributing to diplomacy and public life, Asif Ali Zardari mentioned Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan who represented Pakistan abroad in its early years with dignity and distinction.

He said Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was the first woman Prime Minister in the Muslim world who expanded Pakistan's international engagement and strengthened its place in global forums.

The President expressed Pakistan's commitment to ensuring equal opportunity to women in public service.
