
Pakistan has reaffirmed its firm commitment to protecting the endangered snow leopard and the fragile mountain ecosystems that support it.
This was stated by Spokesperson Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Muhammad Saleem Shaikh in in connection with the International Snow Leopard Day today.
He said the government is determined to safeguard snow leapord's habitat through cooperation with provincial authorities, conservation partners, and mountain communities.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan hosts about 167 snow leopards, mainly in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
The day aims to raise awareness about threats to this rare species and mobilize collective action for its protection.
