Tarar calls for launching multilingual climate awareness campaign
June 11, 2026

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has called for launching climate-related massive campaign in different languages and through multiple modes of communication to reach people from all segments of society.

He was addressing the International Conference on Green Journalism, Media, Climate and Social Responsibility jointly organized by The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology and OIC COMSTECH in Islamabad today.

The Minister emphasized it is time that we must  talk about climate justice besides climate change saying that countries with greater contributions to fossil fuel combustion and carbon emissions bore a larger responsibility towards nations contributing less to the problem.

He said Pakistan contributes less than one per cent of global carbon emissions, but remains among the countries most severely affected by climate-related disasters.

Attaullah Tarar called for a cultural shift in society to make climate change a mainstream public issue. He said discussions on environmental challenges should also receive the same attention on social media as other viral content.

The Information Minister said climate change remains one of the most serious challenges facing humanity and that raising awareness is inevitable step towards addressing it.

He suggested involving various ministries, divisions and stakeholders in a coordinated framework aimed at promoting awareness and identifying practical actions.

Attaullah Tarar also appreciated COMSTECH and the organizers of the conference for organizing the event and said that it reflects an understanding of the importance of climate awareness and green journalism.
