Dr. Noor Fatima (Economist): The approach and plan for attracting investments requires a phased and deliberate approach. Therefore, there was a necessity to enhance its appeal. We have dedicated significant efforts towards this objective over an extended period. In the 1990s, Pakistan adopted a more open and liberal stance towards investment. However, after establishing the strategy and roadmap, the most crucial aspect is its execution. The Privatization Commission and other relevant institutions should assess whether their regulations are conducive to attracting investors. Any conflicting laws should be promptly addressed. Government policies should be designed to facilitate investors and encourage foreign investment. We must not solely rely on foreign loans and stimulus packages as a sustainable solution.
