A M Shahid (Former Diplomat):Pakistan brokered a comprehensive and compact ceasefire plan between the US and Iran and both the warring sides signed Islamabad Accord but unfortunately, now once again both the US Iran have restarted hostilities. The US is hitting civilian targets in Iran and re-imposed sanctions on Iran. Now Houthi rebels of Yemen have also joined hostilities. This situation has badly affected regional economies. No economic progress is possible without peace in the region. It is a matter of fact that Pakistan has defence partnership with Saudi Arabia so Muslim brother countries must think before attacking on Saudi Arabia because Saudi Arabia is red line of Pakistan.  Foreign Office has condemned Houthis’ attacks because Saudi Arabia is Pakistan’s red line. Pakistan may take action against Houthis if required. Pakistan has also historical ties with Iran and Iranians know that Pakistan has done a lot for them in terms of diplomacy. But Pakistan have conveyed to Iranians about compulsions so they must also remain cautious about taking action against our brotherly countries.
