Pakistan, China agree to enhance cooperation in livestock & meat export sectors

Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance cooperation in the livestock and meat export sectors to promote trade and strengthen the livestock industry.

The agreement was reached during a high-level meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and a Chinese delegation.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan has vast livestock resources and the potential to produce high-quality halal meat.

The meeting discussed joint measures to increase meat exports and support the development of Pakistan's livestock sector.

The participants agreed to promote the establishment of modern slaughterhouses, meat processing facilities and export infrastructure in Pakistan.

Pakistan will also improve modern technology, cold chain systems and traceability mechanisms to enhance exports of quality halal meat to China.

The Chinese delegation appreciated Pakistan's livestock potential and expressed interest in cooperation in meat processing, technology transfer and export infrastructure development.

The sector is playing a significant role in the agricultural economy, value addition, rural employment and overall national production.
