Veteran broadcaster of Radio Pakistan, Yasmeen Tahir, passed away in Lahore on Saturday. She was 88.

Her funeral prayer will be offered after Asar prayer on Sunday.

She had been undergoing treatment at a local hospital for the past few days.

She was born in Lahore in 1937 and belonged to a distinguished literary family.

Yasmeen Tahir began her broadcasting career with Radio Pakistan in 1958, and her program ''Saath Rang'' was very popular among the public.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to broadcasting, Government of Pakistan awarded her the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2015.
