Taliban regime imposes nationwide internet shutdowns in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, Taliban regime has started using tactics like nationwide digital blackouts and internet shutdowns to suppress critical voices.

According to the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e Subh, the purpose of the Taliban’s digital blackouts is to preserve a coercive system and silence dissenting opinions.

It reported that the main goal of restricting the internet in Afghanistan is to hide administrative failures, violent operations and oppression of civilians.
