Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed Accession to Pakistan Day on Saturday.

The day was marked with a renewed commitment to continue their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and eventual unification with Pakistan.

It was on this day in 1947 when representatives of the Kashmiri people unanimously passed the historic Accession to Pakistan resolution during a session of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference.

On the occasion, in a message from New Delhi's notorious Tihar Jail, the illegally detained Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Masarrat  Aalam Butt called July 19 a landmark day in Kashmir's history.

Meanwhile, a special report released by Kashmir Media Service on the occasion revealed that nearly 450,000 Kashmiris have laid down their lives over past seven decades in the struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and accession to Pakistan.

The report stressed that despite India's relentless use of force, and arbitrary laws Kashmiris remain steadfast in their demand for freedom.

Additionally, Indian police barred the IOJK Congress chapter from staging a protest in Srinagar demanding the restoration of occupied Jammu and Kashmir's statehood.

The authorities sealed the Congress office and prevented party leaders and workers from reaching the site.

In connection with Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day, seminars, events, public gatherings and rallies were also organized in Azad Kashmir on Saturday.

In Muzaffarabad, a special ceremony was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell at the auditorium of Khurshid National Library.

Addressing the ceremony, the speakers said although India is using worst the tactics to suppress freedom movement, yet Kashmiris will not hesitate to make any sacrifice.

Meanwhile, a rally was also taken by Pasban Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad.

Addressing the rally, the participants said despite eight decades of Indian oppression right of Kashmiris to self-determination and demand for accession to Pakistan is unwavering.
