Afghanistan has been described as one of the worst countries in South Asia for children, as food insecurity and climate change-related disasters continue to threaten millions of young lives.
According to the new UNICEF report, over 8.8 million children in Afghanistan are simultaneously exposed to three major climate hazards: droughts, floods and heatwaves.
It reported that out of Afghanistan’s 21 million children, forty one percent are severely affected by climate change impacts.
According to the UNICEF report, around fifty percent of Afghan children suffer from severe food poverty, contributing to one of the highest stunting rates in the world.
It further stated that due to the Taliban regime’s incompetence, the entire system of child protection, health and education has paralyzed.
