Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima has said that there is enormous potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Japan in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, semiconductors, chip design, smart manufacturing, electric mobility, cyber-security and clean technology.

She made these remarks while virtually addressing Pakistan Business Seminar held in Tokyo.

The Minister said Japan brings technological excellence, innovation and precision, while Pakistan offers a young population equipped with talent, energy, and ambition. She emphasized the need to move beyond traditional cooperation toward co-creation to build a shared technological future.

Shaza Fatima said Pakistan does not want to remain merely a consumer of technology but aims to become an active contributor to its development. She said Pakistan is an increasingly connected country and is determined to strengthen its position in the global digital economy.

Highlighting Pakistan’s investment environment, Shaza Fatima said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) provides a platform to ensure investor-friendly policies, facilitate investors and promote continuity and certainty in the investment process.

She said Pakistan is ready to work directly with Japanese companies interested in investing in the country’s technology sector as well as other areas of the economy.
