Dr Abid Gill (Agrarian): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rightly pointed out that we need to use modern technology in agricultural sector. Therefore, the government has sent a batch of students to China with purpose to learn modern techniques in agricultural sector. Actually, our cost of wheat production is higher than the other countries of the world due to higher prices of fertilizers, power and other factors. IT and AI will be mostly used in agricultural sector in future. Role of technology has been enhanced in almost every sector. China has become be 2nd biggest technology hub after US in the world. China is providing cheaper technology to the world as compared to the other countries. Therefore, we need to send our students to get expertise in technology field from China.
Hamayun Iqbal Shami (Economist): Pakistan’s economy is anagrarian economy and a large number of other sectors of economy like sugar, livestock and tanneries depend on agriculture sector. Thus agriculture sector is backbone of our economy.Agriculture sector contributes the national economy equally to retailers to national economy in terms of tax and revenue. Low yield is basic problem of our agricultural sector as small land owners can’t afford modern machinery and tools in their farming practices. Therefore we are required to use the upgrade our farming practices by imparting modern techniques to our growers to higher per hector yield.
