SC disqualifies PTI's Secretary General Jahangir Tareen
December 15, 2017

Supreme Court has dismissed petition of PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi seeking disqualification of PTI Chief Imran Khan but disqualified the Party's Secretary General Jehangir Tareen.

The verdict reserved by the apex court on 14th of last month was announced by head of the three-member bench, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar in Islamabad on Friday afternoon.

The court referred the issue of foreign funding of PTI to the Election Commission of Pakistan for minute examination.

The court held that reply of Jehangir Tareen amounted to confession of guilt. The court said Jehangir Tareen has admitted to involvement in insider trading.

The court observed that Jehangir Khan Tareen did not declare his asset SVL Hyde House in London of which he is the owner.

The court ceased his membership of the National Assembly with immediate effect.

The judgment was unanimous with an additional note of Justice Faisal Arab in Imran Khan's case.

Meanwhile, Election Commission of Pakistan has de-notified PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen as Member of National Assembly from NA-154 Lodhran-I.
