September 15, 2026

The Jamaat-e-Islami has welcomed the government's fuel relief measures.

The sentiment was expressed by a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation during a meeting with Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani in Islamabad today.

The delegation, led by Liaquat Baloch, stressed the need for a permanent solution to fundamental issues, including a reduction in the petroleum levy.

The delegation was briefed on the petroleum sector and the fuel supply situation. It was also briefed on the petroleum pricing mechanism based on a seven-day rolling average.

Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government ensured uninterrupted fuel supplies across the country during the recent crisis.

He said the government is taking comprehensive measures to protect consumers and ensure the availability of fuel.

The Petroleum Minister said targeted subsidies are being provided to users of motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws and small cars. He added that targeted subsidies are an effective means of providing relief to deserving segments of society.

Ali Pervaiz Malik further informed the delegation that the upgradation of refineries would increase the production of Euro-V fuel, petrol and diesel, while reducing the country's reliance on imported refined petroleum products.

Azam Nazeer Tarar said provision of relief to the people is the government's top priority.
