A grand and colourful ceremony to mark Independence Day is underway in the federal capital under the auspices of the Capital Development Authority.

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with senior officials, are attending the event, which has drawn a large number of citizens from the twin cities.

A key highlight of the event was the display of the newly inducted “Zarb-e-Haider” armoured personnel carriers, along with new patrolling and crime-control vehicles for the Islamabad Police.

The police department also presented its traditional float representing the culture of all parts of the country.

The celebrations featured a disciplined parade by contingents of the Islamabad Police’s Delta Commandos, the Federal Constabulary, and Pakistan Scouts, drawing immense praise from attendees.
