The United States and China have agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and free from militarization.  

The understanding was reached during a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing today. 

Both leaders also agreed to further expand economic bilateral cooperation.
