
On the directions of the Prime Minister, the National Disaster Management Authority today held a virtual session with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to review monsoon preparedness.
The meeting was convened via video link by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Musadik Malik, and attended by Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik.
In the meeting, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Aqibullah Khan and Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah represented the province.
Senior officials of NDMA, the Director General of PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative secretaries of the provincial government, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and representatives of all relevant provincial departments also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa presented a comprehensive briefing on preparedness measures, contingency planning, resource deployment, and coordination arrangements established across the province.
The session reviewed district-wise preparedness in areas vulnerable to flash floods, riverine flooding, urban flooding, landslides, glacial lake outburst floods, and other monsoon emergencies.
Particular attention was given to the readiness of district administrations, rescue services, emergency communication systems, relief stockpiles, and evacuation planning in high-risk areas.
The Federal Minister appreciated the preparedness efforts of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and directed all concerned authorities to remain vigilant in light of evolving weather conditions. He emphasized that proactive planning, rapid response, and effective public awareness are essential to minimizing the impact of hydro-meteorological hazards.
The meeting concluded with directions to conduct coordination meetings at the district and Union Council levels to further review preparedness, strengthen local coordination, and ensure a timely response to any emergency situation during the Monsoon 2026.
