President, PM reaffirm resolve to eradicate child labour

World Day Against Child Labour is being observed today.

The purpose of observing the day is to highlight the efforts needed to eliminate it.

The theme of this year is " Red card to child labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults".

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan's resolve to completely eliminate child labour from the country to protect children from exploitation.

They expressed these views in their separate messages on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour today.

In his message, the President said Pakistan joined the international community in reaffirming its resolve to protect children from exploitation and to ensure that every child can grow up in safety and attend school.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government is implementing a comprehensive strategy aimed at the complete elimination of child labour.   

Shehbaz Sharif called upon employers, workers, parents, teachers, civil society organizations, religious leaders, the media and the private sector to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Government in this national cause of protecting children from exploitation.
