
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated that protection of rights of journalists and media workers remains top priority of the government.
He was talking to a delegation of Suno News that called on him in Islamabad today.
During the meeting, the delegation of Suno News assured that the dues of laid-off employees would be settled immediately.
The meeting focused on the rights of media workers, challenges faced by TV channels, and the situation of recently dismissed employees.
The discussions centered on the termination of 114 employees, with a decision that no further salary cuts or dismissals would take place. Additionally, lower-level staff, including drivers and technical personnel, would be reinstated.
Attaullah Tarar remarked that Suno News has already begun implementing the points agreed upon, leading to the lifting of the suspension on its advertisements. He further assured that every possible effort will be made to provide alternative employment for other dismissed employees.
The Information Minister said financial and administrative issues in media organizations will be addressed collaboratively, ensuring that the rights of all staff are fully protected.
Meanwhile, the management of AAJ News has contacted the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with a meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
