Govt committed to structural reforms: Finance Minister

Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has reiterated the government's focus on structural reforms, export-led growth, and strengthening institutional frameworks.

He was talking to the US Chargé d'Affaires to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, in Islamabad today to discuss Pakistan-US economic relations and opportunities for further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

The Finance Minister briefed the US Chargé d'Affaires on his recent visit to Washington and his engagements with senior US economic institutions, where he highlighted opportunities to strengthen financial cooperation, investment and financing for commercially viable projects in Pakistan.

He also updated Natalie Baker on progress in discussions with the US Trade Representative on the Pakistan-US reciprocal trade framework, emphasizing greater market access, export opportunities and bilateral trade.

The Finance Minister highlighted government efforts to improve the business environment, attract private-sector investment, strengthen foreign exchange reserves and promote export-led growth.

The two sides also discussed investment opportunities in ports and logistics, energy, telecommunications, digital technology and artificial intelligence.

Natalie Baker appreciated Pakistan's efforts to maintain economic stability amid regional challenges and rising energy prices and reaffirmed US support for Pakistan's economic reform agenda and greater participation of US companies in key sectors.
