Global leaders and international organizations have widely welcomed the ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India, lauding the diplomatic efforts that led to the de-escalation and emphasizing the need for lasting peace in South Asia.
US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire followed “a long night of talks mediated by the United States.” He congratulated both nations for using “common sense and great intelligence.”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance also played a key role in the diplomatic outreach, engaging with senior officials in Islamabad and New Delhi. The U.S. Secretary of State praised Prime Ministers Shehbaz Sharif and Narendra Modi for their “wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”
During his visit to Kyiv, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, said British government was in engagement in ceasefire efforts over “some days.” Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who held talks with both countries, described the ceasefire as “hugely welcome,” emphasizing the need for it to be “enduring and lasting” and calling for sustained de-escalation in the region.
In a Social Media post on X, European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas called ceasefire a “vital step towards de-escalation.” In discussions with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, she reaffirmed the EU’s support for peace, stability, and counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres termed the ceasefire a “positive step” and expressed hope that it would pave the way for resolution of long-standing disputes between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. UN Secretary-General Spokesperson reiterated the UN’s readiness to support efforts for peace and stability in the region.
In a post on X, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India and urged both the nations to engage in “direct and healthy dialogue” and strengthen mechanisms to prevent future escalations. Earlier, Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appealed for calm and offered strong support to Pakistan during the hostilities.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed optimism that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India will help restore regional peace and security. It said Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar acknowledged Saudi Arabia's constructive role, along with Turkey and the United States, in facilitating the agreement.
Similarly, the G7 nations collectively called on India and Pakistan to pursue direct dialogue and maintain peace, reinforcing the broad international support for de-escalation.
