Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry says the government is taking comprehensive measures to strengthen the country's energy sector, promote renewable energy and create new opportunities for industrial growth and investment.
Addressing the SDPI Conference in Islamabad today, he said the government is actively pursuing policies aimed at diversifying the energy mix, encouraging clean and affordable energy solutions, reducing dependence on imported fuels and strengthening long-term energy security.
Highlighting the remarkable growth in solar energy, he said Pakistan witnessed solar panel imports of approximately 45,000 to 50,000 megawatts over the last five years, reflecting growing public and private-sector interest in renewable energy and the expanding potential of the country's solar market.
Danyal Chaudhry stressed that without harmony between federal policy and provincial priorities, renewable energy targets cannot be achieved.
He said Parliament is committed to reforms in energy policy and monitoring its implementation, adding that removing obstacles in utility-scale solar and wind projects is the need of the hour.
He further said that for affordable, clean and stable electricity, the federal and provincial governments must be on the same page.
Danyal Chaudhry said the government is also working on broader energy-sector reforms to improve efficiency, promote sustainable power generation and facilitate investment in modern energy infrastructure. Special attention is being given to strengthening the industrial sector by encouraging local and foreign investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan.
He said industrialists and investors are being encouraged to establish new projects, introduce modern technologies and invest in renewable energy solutions, including solar power generation, energy storage and other clean energy technologies.
He expressed the government's commitment to providing a conducive business environment, facilitating investors and promoting policies that support industrial expansion, employment generation and economic growth.
The Parliamentary Secretary said under the Prime Minister's leadership, concerted efforts are being made to address energy challenges through policy reforms, investment promotion, technological advancement and improved coordination among relevant institutions.
Danyal Chaudhry said the government believes that a sustainable and diversified energy system is essential for Pakistan's economic stability, industrial competitiveness and future prosperity, and welcomes investors to become partners in the journey towards a more sustainable, competitive and energy-secure future.
