Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to hold the first phase of local government elections in Punjab on the 7th February next year.

A four-member bench of the Election Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, heard the case in Islamabad regarding the conduct of local government elections in Punjab.

The decision was taken after considering the provincial government's request to hold the elections in January or February next year, as weather conditions improve in February.
