Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation has been selected as one of the 16 founding members of the Asia-Pacific Media Partnership Organizing Committee, formally launched during the Asia-Pacific Media Forum in Shenzhen, China.
PBC’s selection represents significant international recognition of Pakistan’s national broadcaster and gives the country representation in an important regional mechanism dedicated to strengthening cooperation among leading media organisations and research institutions across the Asia-Pacific.
The Organizing Committee will conduct consultations on the Partnership Programme’s rules of procedure and coordinate activities to be undertaken under its framework.
Xinhua News Agency will host the programme’s secretariat.
The Partnership Programme has been established as a regional platform for mutually beneficial media cooperation in four principal areas: high-level dialogue, coordinated communication, technological innovation and practical collaboration.
The initiative is expected to facilitate news and content exchange, joint coverage and productions, professional training, newsroom modernisation and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
PBC’s membership will provide Pakistan with an opportunity to participate in discussions on regional media-cooperation priorities and future initiatives. It will also enable the Corporation to share Pakistan’s perspective with wider audiences, establish professional partnerships and benefit from training, technological knowledge and collaborative projects.
Thanking the Forum, Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Saeed Ahmed Shaikh said Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation is grateful to the Forum for reposing its trust in Pakistan and in PBC, the country’s oldest broadcast media institution.
The Forum, held under the theme “Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action,” brought together around 400 delegates from 42 countries and regions. They represented more than 200 mainstream media organisations, international bodies, research institutions, embassies and think tanks.
