November 04, 2026

Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry laid the foundation stone for the comprehensive reconstruction and modernization of the China Market-Gordon College Road transit corridor in Rawalpindi today.

The project will be executed under a provincial development grant of 138.318 million rupees.

The project has been assigned to the specialized engineering divisions of the Communication and Works Department for high-grade execution and fast-tracked completion.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Barrister Danyal affirmed that the project will dismantle multi-decade traffic bottlenecks, optimize micro-logistics for the commercial hub, and streamline daily commutes for students attending central educational institutions.

He emphasized that upgrading urban road networks remains central to the provincial government's student-centric and economic development framework.

He further said that similar fast-tracked road rehabilitation projects are simultaneously progressing across Rawal Road, 5th Road, and Railway Workshop Road.

The engineering design incorporates a rebuilt sub-base built to sustain heavy commercial traffic and public transit volumes, with integrated subsurface stormwater drainage channels to permanently prevent monsoon inundation across Liaquat Road, Naya Mohalla, and adjacent market zones.

The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting walkthrough led by Barrister Danyal Chaudhry along with business leaders and local residents.
