Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari says the government has focused on introducing result-oriented reforms in the power sector to reduce inefficiencies through privatization.

Talking to a private television channel, he said significant progress had already been made on several fronts, including the revision and renegotiation of contracts with Independent Power Producers and reduction in electricity tariffs for industries.

Responding to a question, he said the government is promoting solar electricity, including the installation of batteries for energy storage, to reduce dependence on expensive electricity during peak hours.
